Recalling the incident, Ali Merchant shared his distress in an interview with The Times of India, saying, “I was at the show when I suddenly felt a jerk in my lower right back, and it turned into a really bad muscle spasm. The pain was so intense that I couldn’t move at all. I had to stay in one position because even the slightest movement was unbearable.” The unexpected injury not only caused him excruciating pain but also hindered his ability to perform and travel.
Despite making efforts to manage the pain by staying hydrated and taking short breaks, the discomfort persisted. Ali’s condition worsened while traveling back to Mumbai, as carrying bags and enduring the long journey aggravated his back strain. “The whole journey back just added to the strain,” he explained. The prolonged travel made his recovery even more challenging, forcing him to seek immediate treatment.
Currently, Ali is undergoing intensive physiotherapy sessions two to three times a day in an effort to heal quickly. With another travel commitment scheduled for next week, he is determined to regain his strength and return to performing. “I’m just trying to heal in time,” he told The Times of India.
Ali’s Merchant injury serves as a reminder of the physical toll performers face, pushing their bodies to the limit amid demanding schedules. As he focuses on recovery, fans continue to send their support, eagerly awaiting his return to the stage.
